Hotel Pet Peeves

Happy Hotel: Your Home Away from Home

A recent hotel stay prompted me to add on a few items to my ongoing list of hotel pet peeves. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far:

-No valet or luggage cart available upon arrival.

-The digital alarm clock is set to the previous person’s waking hour.

-The sheets feel too short on the bed, barely covering my shoulders when sleeping.

-The Internet IS NOT free.

-Clogged or slow-moving drains upon check in. (Didn’t the housekeeper notice this?)

-Phantom flushing toilets and running refrigerators. (Not usually noticed until the middle of the night.)

-No housekeeping provided during the stay, a minor inconvenience IF informed about this lack of service upon check in.

-The concierge desk consists of a table full of brochure (sans concierge).

-Housekeeping turns on the dishwasher for just a few items left in the sink in condo-type units.

-Perfectly clean towels (that have been nicely hung on a hook or rack) are scooped up and replaced with new ones. Now that’s not green.

-Amenities such as tea bags and sugar not being replaced. Even worse:  when other amenities are left in double the supply and others are not replaced at all.

-A bag is provided for recyclables with instructions as to where I can drop them off downstairs. (What, am I supposed to take out my trash, too?)

-And, of course, the inevitable early morning bang on the door (especially Sunday a.m.s) by housekeeping when I forget to put out the privacy sign.
